One of the many things you should be sure to do before you send your child off to camp is to make sure each and every item that your child takes along is labeled. If you stand any chance of getting these items back home, you must have every single thing labeled. Start by ordering iron on labels. Ordering iron on clothing labels is easy. Look online and you will find many companies that offer customized iron on camp labels. You will want to include personal information on the labels such as first and last name and phone number. Some choose to include the camp and bunk information as well. If you are sending several children to camp having a more generic label with information such as family name and phone number should usually be sufficient. The ink that is used on the iron on labels are indelible ink, therefore the ink is permanent and waterproof and will stay clear and easy to read after numerous washing cycles. Attaching them to all your children’s clothing will be quick and easy. By applying a bit of pressure and a couple of short strokes of an iron the labels will be firmly attached. Even after washing them time and time again the labels will stay exactly in its place. This may seem like a tiresome task, but it will be well worth the effort. I learned the hard way. The first year my child went to camp, I skipped this step and I can’t tell you how much I regretted it. Many of his great t-shirts and pants did not make it back home at the end of the camping season, let alone through the entire month of camp. Believe it or not, I had to bring him a couple of extra t-shirts to replenish his stock to get him through camp. This time I labeled them all. Once you have ironed on a couple of labels you will get the hang of it and soon you will be an iron on label pro, taking you virtually no time at all.
